The Federation, together with the HK Trade Development Council and the Hong Kong Watch Manufacturers Association, held the Hong Kong Watch & Clock Solo Exhibition for Latin American Buyers in Miami from March 8 to 10, 1999 in their effort o tap this huge watch and clock market. Air tickets and hotel lodging sponsorships were given out to attract as many buyers from Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico and Panama. Despite the currency crisis in South America, all 40 slots in the fair tour were taken. Back to top | More Promotion Activities Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) and the Hong Kong Industrial Promotion Planning Committee (HKIPPC) The move of Hong Kong's industrial base north into China in the past decade has put the local industries in the backseat. This led the HKPC to implement the Hong Kong Industrial Promotion Plan aimed at increasing public concern and awareness on Hong Kong industries since 1998. A committee, which included HKPC officials and representatives from more than 20 different trades and business associations, was set up to work out the detailed strategies. The Federation was selected as one of the committee members since the committee's inception. Much work has been done, including meeting with the Education Department representatives in the hope that the importance of the Hong Kong industries will be included in the syllabus.
